Work-Work Pinball Tournament #1, 2016

After two weeks of pinball in the Work-Work basement, something great is happening: unknown initials are popping up in the high score tables!  RSN, KHK and HOE have battled gravitation and chaos well enough to put down some solid scores. That feeling you get when you have a good round, get in the zone and maybe do some good strategic choices, and the game rewards you with “PLAYER X, ENTER INITIALS”, is just awesome.
So what’s next, after “beating” the machine? Why, maybe it’s time to try beating your fellow pinheads. In other words: Tournament time! We are happy to announce our first tournament at Work-Work, officially called simply “Work-Work Tournament #1, 2016”: Check out Popbumper Trondheims event

As the tournament info page says, we have a ceiling of max 20 participants in this first tournament. We could have done a “two strikes and you’re out” format, but we’d rather see all participants being guaranteed a decent number of games. To make that happen without the tournament going on for too long, we’re capping at 20 this time. In the future, after we and the players have some more experience doing this kind of thing, we might do different tournament formats, but this time we’re playing it safe and predictable (we hope). The tournament fee is 150,-.  This includes at least 5 games for everyone during the qualification phase, while the players qualifying for the finals will play an additional 3 or 4 games.

  • 1st prize: 15 tokens, t-shirt and a one-of-a-kind trophy
  • 2nd prize: 10 tokens and plaque
  • 3rd prize: 5 tokens and plaque
  • 4th prize: 1 token and optional hug

In addition to the prizes, the tournament has been sanctioned by the International Flipper Pinball Association (https://www.ifpapinball.com/). This means most or all of the participants will collect World Pinball Player Ranking (WPPR) points and place them on the international ranking list of pinball players.

Tournament tickets must be purchased in advance at Work-Work. Ticket sale starts January 4th 2016. Remember: Max 20 participants! We will let everyone know on Facebook when the tickets are sold out, which we hope and expect will happen quickly, considering how eagerly people have embraced the pinball machines at Work-Work.

Good luck!
